Did you Know ?
Glaslough/Tyholland GWS is one of the largest Group Water Schemes in County Monaghan and is approximately 40 years old.
The Scheme source is surface water abstracted from the adjacent lake, Emy Lough. The water quality from said lake is considered to be good.
The intake and treatment plant are located on the southern lakeshore in the town land of Derrygasson Lower which supplies water to the treatment works at the Lough.
Treated water is then pumped by Water Treatment Contractors Veolia Water to a 1,591m3 capacity reservoir approximately 1km to the south of the treatment plant, where it is stored prior to distribution to householders.
The trunk mains from this reservoir supplies the entire Scheme as well as the villages of Emyvale and Glaslough. There is also some agricultural demand and a small industrial demand.
